The moon hit the night sky, the indigo replacing the once lapping blue sky above the very top of their heads. Only one star gleamed the bright of them all. Why was that? Legend say that it means that a new cat has joined the Star Trail, gleaming brightly to become the new ancestor. The moon was the shape of a cat's claw, curled and darkness overfilling it. How odd of how that works in the first place. The forest was quiet, and it gave out a calming atmosphere. Eyes were on her pelt, eyes of hunger, but she didn't care. The feline was not concentrated with what beasts wanted her for dinner at the moment. Even if she was approached by a dangerous predator, she would be sure to slice the throat of that creature. And watch it suffer beneath her paws. Emberseeker lingered through the forest, a meter of snow crunching under her paw pads. The snow seemed to be acting more during the evening, perhaps because the weather went down to chilly temperature.
Leaping over a fallen tree, she came across the lake on which she had a big phobia of. A long stare demanded on the wide spaced frozen solid lake. Her large paws quivered in hesitation, but she proceeded on in approaching the area. Paws on the iced lake, a aching tightening feeling erected in her chest, her anxiety acting up badly. The calico tabby forest cat moggy saw that she was moving forward, but was unable to actually feel her legs move itself. Her point of view only saw that she was moving. How was this possible? She wondered to herself, approaching the exact spot where a certain cat fell into the ice, and she forced herself to look down directly, to see absolutely nothing, except frost that corrupted the icy lake. Flattening her ears against her temples, she seemed to not see her sister's dead expression through the ice any longer. Perhaps the warrior had gotten rid of her fear.
"Thanks, Nightchaser..." She murmured, knowing well that he wasn't there, even though she wouldn't thank him face to face. Well, why would she? It's not like he did much anyway. Huffing to herself to shake away the thought, the memory of Emberseeker and Nightchaser intimate moment in the warrior's den came flooding through her head, causing only her cheeks to flush in heat. No way she was going to think about that. It was only a one time thing. They wouldn't rest like that again. Continuing her walk on the lake, she heard a painful howl from a wolf, causing her to flinch. Every fur connected on her flesh, she dug her claws into the ice, keeping herself cautious of her surroundings. Well, maybe she wasn't as tough as she imagined. Her bi-colour optics scanned left to right and looking over her shoulders in case anything or anyone approached her. Where was she heading? She wasn't too sure.

The sky was a beautiful indigo color, and the only thing in the nighttime sky was the stunning moon and one twinkling star that shone brightly. As the wind chills crossed the frozen lake, the air made the pines and oaks whistle in fury as their branches creaked with old brush and age. A light sheet of snow enveloped the body of water and made it glassy, the moonlight showering down it's rays of ghostly light. The nighttime air was intoxicating, it filled the lungs of a charcoal male whom had currently stepped outside of his home to explore, for night was when he blended well with the darkness, like the shadows were his friends, mimicking his every moment, their shady figures laughing at him, encouraging him to cross the slippery sheet of the lake. Currently, the feathery charcoal deputy was sitting with his cranium tilted back slightly, muscles relaxed and features peaceful as a curl of smoke left parted jaws, disappearing before his golden irises. Looking out upon the frozen lake, the male shivered lightly as a huffy breeze came through, sending swirls of snow into his direction and through instinct, those stunning eyes of his narrowed to avoid the stinging sensation followed by a tingling one. Transparent whiskers fluttered in the air, while the curtain of moonlight fell upon him like waves, the beautiful light bringing out the deep color of his hide and the distinct features in which he wore. At nighttime, one could barely see the slender and muscular curves of the male, or that lopsided grin he gave whenever somebody completed something more like a chore, or the way he slightly limped but hid it from everyone for it was a childhood injury that never got treated. All these little things what were made him the feline he was, the cold frosted deputy who knew how to pull the reins of his own clan, following the orders of Eveningstar. Feathery tendril curling against the ice, the male then grunted before picking up his pace once again, running across the ice as if it were fun, slipping and sliding as a little smile curled across his lips. Times when he was alone and his childish self outgrew his satisfactory ways.
Nightchaser wandered through the forest with no particular place in mind, not a care in the territories, however his skills and instincts were quite high around this time of night, which made him deathly silent and almost unreadable. Occasionally, the male would pass an oak or maple and he'd glance upwards, expecting an enemy from overhead, but with a little chuckle he laughed it off, knowing the only thing up there probably being squirrels. And it's not like he would get attacked with acorns. Continuing on his way, the male looked over a certain snowy banking, a leaning tree beside it which provided a clear view of the frozen lake. Grinning lightly, the male hopped upon the branch of the curved tree and settled himself down slightly, resting for a moment until his eyes caught hold of a blurry shape up ahead. Now he wondered who that could be. It was probably Emberseeker, no doubt, she often came out at nighttime just like he, one thing they both had in common with each other. The charcoal deputy smiled lightly as he remembered the night before, and shivered as he (awkwardly) missed the warmth the female provided, something different then sleeping underneath the hide of a moose.

The female spend time on the lake, practicing her phobia into getting used to the frozen lake. At times, she would slip in front of one paw, feeling the panic of her heart seeming to rise up to her throat as she had fallen onto the ice, grunting in pain. Her canines bit down on her tongue, causing a sharp pain electric through her body, and her groaning in pain. Ah, she was such a mouse-brain. The copper taste of blood went down her throat, her stomach curling up inside from the taste. Ugh, gross. She, of course, was not going to go see Eagletalon for her tongue as she didn't need to hear his complaining and be glared at by an annoying mute who guarded the grumpy medicine cat. Star Trail could've picked a better cat for medicine cat. Grumpy cats were so... aggravating. Raising her heavy self up to her paws, she turned back to the entrance of stepping on the ice, the labored wind brushing violently up against her fur. She nearly had to squint through the wind due to the impact it had on her eyes, paining her to keep them open as they got dry within seconds and rapidly needing to blink to wet them a bit. She hated leaf-bare more than life itself. What a bothersome. Perhaps she would go adventure to a much warmer destination. However, that would takes moons. Or even seasons to reach that kind of dream land. Emberseeker narrowed her eyes when she approached a dark figure near her sights, the strong wind blocking out the scent of the cat. Walking up the slope, she noticed the amber eyes belonging to a certain cat she least expected to see tonight. Well, what could she really do about it? They were in the same clan. She couldn't exactly avoid him all her life. Taking in a deep breath, she made her way closer to the charcoal firm tom, a devious grin tugging among her hued lips.
"Well, if it isn't my nightingale, Nightchaser." Emberseeker meowed in a monotone. Arching a brow, she looked up at the tom, feeling a shiver go down her spine. Despite her sore ribs due to falling multiple times, she reached herself up to sit next to Nightchaser, tilting her cranium to get a better view on him, as for her, well, she looked like a daydream in the glimpse of the moonlight upon, with her head tilted to the side, looking at him, a smile of warmth and eyes filled with an expression unreadable. Thinking back at the night when they slept together, she used that, as her alibi. Leaning in against the broad body of the feathery tom, her muzzle close to his cheek, trailing up to his ear, her hot breath brushing his hair in his triangular paper thin ears. "I've missed you, Nightingale." She whispered, a new nickname for him. Daychaser was a bit boring. In her assumptions, Nightingale seemed to be the most approachable nickname that could relax both her and maybe the deputy himself. She kept her close contact with him, staring at him with the slightly narrowed eyes and a smirk tugging on her maw.

The charcoal male heard the howling canopies around him, the sweet sensation of hearing their mournful cries that brought music to his auditors. Lifting a slender forearm to his mouth, a salmon carmine tongue lapped at the soft tickling hairs and brushing his forearm over his ears and cheek, continuing this motion for quite some time until the energy was sapped from underneath him, and his stunning golden irises failed to keep themselves open. Feathery tendril curled lightly against the base of the low branch, ivory talons digging into the rotting wood as a gentle sigh billowed from his dark lips. Chin resting upon sleek toes, the male enjoyed the peaceful silence surrounding him, it comforted him, and eventually he managed to fall asleep, giving up his guard and looking like a heavenly kitten sleeping upon the branch, one could call it quite alluring the way he slept. Eyes were shut tightly and every so often his slate nose would twitch from the howling winds, or a shiver crept up his spine and his body instinctively flexed from the action. Everything was a drown of noise and all he could hear was a soft ringing inside his head, making him surrender to a little nap.
Nightchaser clung to the branch as if it were a lifetime, looking in utter peace as he continued to sleep on and on, gentle snores leaving his mouth every few moments followed by a little sneeze. However, his tufted ears pricked slightly at the sound of approaching steps, and yet he didn't bother to open his eyes until the sound stopped, and he heard a muffled voice calling him from his short slumber. Golden maroon irises hazily opening, he felt a warm body press against him and the sickeningly sweet warm breath against his ear that made him shudder, eyes finally opening and flickering to take in the appearance of a familiar molly. Groaning from the lethargic in his limbs, he hesitantly sat up upon the branch, meeting face to face with the molly. A few unkempt hairs stuck up from his cranium giving him a tired, ruffled appearance, as if he hadn't slept for days, which wasn't the case. A single brow lifting in alarm, these notations sent red flags and he couldn't help but question the molly.
"Nightingale? Hm, must be a new nickname. I must say, you surprised me with your presence, for I wasn't expecting you to approach me when I had fallen asleep, are you trying to take me for granted, dear?"
The male gave her that lopsided grin that spoke wonders, eyes closing briefly as his whiskers twitched in amusement. Upon hearing her next answer, however, this made him open a single eye to observe her, and lifting another brow softly, he gave a soft, sleepy chuckle.
"Missed me, huh? That's something I would never hear coming from you. Anyways, what are you doing out so late? Don't you know that it gets more darker and you can barely see across the lake sometimes, does that trigger warning flags in your head, hun? Just be careful" The male then gave a frown and lifted a forearm to cover his mouth, hiding his expression as a warm blush crept across his features. It was unlike him to tell someone to be careful.

She wasn't aware that he was asleep, and a part of her felt bad when he shuffled his figure to wake up and rise up. But... Oh who was she kidding, she didn't care much. She was bored and needed someone to talk to. And to be quite honest, the only friend she had in this pathetic lowlife clan and possibly the only cat she trusted, was the tom next to her right now. She saw the tired expression in his eyes, and his fur was ruffled up to where to was risen up where she could tell he was trying to take a pleasant nap. Chewing on the inside part of her mouth, she hesitantly thought that she could do a favour for him. Groom him a little, to make the tom look approachable. It wasn't like she didn't groom him before - thinking about the time she groomed his neck. Leaning forward, Emberseeker pressed her nose against Nightchaser's neck, rasping her tongue across, making the fur mat down. Her tongue traveled to his scruff, and soon enough down his back, balancing herself well on the branch beneath them. Once he looked neat enough to speak to, she pulled her cranium back to get a view of him, stifling out a purr of amusement. The calico-tabby looked up at the charcoal tabby, a smirk tugging on her maw and tilted her cranium once more.
"Don't like the nickname? I thought it had logic behind it since..." Leaning more forward, she nibbled on his ear in a playful gesture before whispering hotly. "I can rely on you, to protect me..." The she-cat pulled away slightly to where she was an inch away from his own face, their transparent long whiskers tickling each other's faces.
She arched a brow when he seemed rather concerned for her whereabouts and her safety. Was he falling for her? Oh, how ironic that would be. Smiling, she nuzzled the nape of his neck, showing a gesture of appreciation for his concern. No one really cared about her safety, so when he seemed to be doing so, she really appreciated it. It felt weird to be, but she felt something in her chest erupt. It made her long for something, but if she had to be honest, she was quite thankful for the tom to be a friend to her. She'd possibly be lost without him, yet again, unable to publicly announce that considering that she would be seen as a softy, which isn't going to ever happen.
"First for everything, dear." She responded back, trailing the tip of her brisk tail down his spine, her side pressing against his own to provide warmth and comfort. She also wanted to see if he would react to her close contact. "Wasn't tired. And I'm fine. You're not my father so I can go wherever I want whenever I want, Nightingale." She meowed, lifting her cranium to look at him with a sly look. "Unless you're falling for me already, sweetheart." Emberseeker teased, pressing her cold wet nose against his jawline, trying to get answers out of him.

The charcoal deputy let out a gusty sigh as his muscles protested, calling him to sleep once again. Eyes flickering open as another yawn emitted from his languid jaws, the male licked the corner of his mouth as it was getting quite chillier out, and made his lips dry and uncomfortable. Watching her with a confused expression of tiredness, brows barely raising to question her, he felt the warmth against his cranium and then his nape and he shivered, only because he wanted to get back to sleep. He was tired, but it seemed that the molly wanted somebody to talk to, and he obliged. It was quite funny, if he were quite energetic and not lethargic, he would have moved away from her at that moment. Observing her quietly, the male didn't get enough energy to make a snide remark so when she was finished he grunted lightly before hopping down from the branch and onto the banking once again, stretching his bodice forwards, feathery tendril snaking behind him.
Nightchaser looked up at her hazily, tendril twitching quietly as his golden copper irises told a million stories. Tufted ears flicking curiously, the male looked up at her and gave a coy grin, ears flicking backwards as he gave her another lopsided grin. "In my state of tiredness, I don't think I could protect you from just anything. And falling for you? Let's not kid here darling"
Chuckling softly, he knew she meant it as a joke but what if she meant that for real? His eyes widened and he visibly shuttered, cranium shaking the thoughts away as he inwardly scolded himself for thinking so stupidly. It must have been his tiredness, yes, that was it. Looking at her expectantly, he then sighed and looked away, frowning once again and his face set into a neutral expression.
"Well, are you coming or not? I'm tired and I want to sleep, we can walk home together but then I am going to go sleep in my nest, and we can talk in the morning. Unless you'll be missing my company, my dear". He teased and gave a little wink before sticking his tongue out at her and took a couple steps forward, wanting to head back to his nest so he could fall into the beautiful arms of sleep. But little did the female know that he would spend any night talking to her, no matter his state of tiredness.

The weather was nearly cruel and in all honesty, she wanted to be out of the cold. But, she didn't want to go back to camp just yet to be surrounded by annoying snoring felines. The large feline watched the tom as he leaped down from the branch and landed gracefully upon the snow bank. Arching a kitty brow, she glimpsed at him looking at her, they made eye-contacting for a brief moment, but he broke it with his response to her teasing remark. Emberseeker exclaimed a huff, pouncing off the branch herself and landing of the snowy cold ground as well, snow shooting up from her landing. She wasn't exactly the most graceful lander due to her heavy body and large paws. Emberseeker felt slightly disappointed that the tom said he was no way interested in her, until it slapped her right in the face. Wait, why did she care? It's not like she liked him. Rolling her optics, she shook her cranium slowly before she meowed, "Not yet, at least." She snickered, keeping herself far behind him.
Ah, he needed his little beauty sleep? Bummer. Emberseeker thought to herself, a devious smile tugging her maw, glancing at the snow with quite a concentrated look. She paused, looking up to see if Nightchaser was still padding ahead of her. Making sure he didn't turn around, her front paws clumsily handled the snow, rounding it into a ball like she normally did for moss. Normally she'd roll it up for the stubborn kits to leave her alone if they approached her. They normally asked her why she was so big, or something ridiculous like, "Oh Emberseeker, can we play badger and warriors? Please?" Because of her size. Of course, she'd snarl at them to leave her alone. She prayed to never have kits. Curling her tail firmly on the snowball, she found herself running at Nightchaser, past him. But when they met rear and cranium, her tail smacked on top of his head, the snow being smashed on it. Trying to skid, she clumsily slipped, but quickly recovered her moves, bringing herself down to a stalking posture.
"Come at me." Emberseeker challenged, narrowing her eyes playfully at Nightchaser. Did he liked to be challenged, or did he not? Either way, she was going to pressure him to play with her. Warrior or not, she acted like a kit alone, and only Nightchaser was able to experience her kittish behaviour. Her tendril that was once curled around her hind leg, she released it and lashed it against the snowy ground, bits of snow attaching to the below part of her tail.

The sleek charcoal male admired the freshly fallen snow and the way it speckled his dark colored fleece, moonlight giving his heavy winter coat a sheering dark blueish black tint. Striking eyes followed over each and every little speck of snow that fell down in front of him, and only once or twice did he fell it soak into the top of his forehead, making him shiver in delight. Hearing the gentle sound of snow falling behind him, realizing that the molly was tagging along, did he keep up his pace, cranium tilted downwards to avoid the snow being spit into his face. It wasn't until he heard little crunching noises did he get curious, and just when he was about to turn around and look the ball of snow landed onto his head in a rough manner and he flinched as snow fell down his cheeks and nose, crumbling to the lightest touch as his eyes widened in surprise. Frowning lightly, the male shook his cranium side to side lightly before giving her that cheek lopsided grin and quickly recovering the attack he threw a snowball at her, not giving her time to react to the movement he had pulled. Two could play at that game.
"You wanna have a snowball fight, dear? Then let's play a little game of war"

Emberseeker watched his expression, soon enough breaking out in laughter, sitting on her rear to help her balance due to her body shaking from the laughter coming out from her maw. Catching her off guard, the beautiful molly's face was in contact with a snowball, causing her to fall backwards and onto the snow. The dizziness worn off in a few moments before she lift herself to her paws and made brief eye contact with the deputy, narrowing her eyes once more. Snow still on her muzzle, she made another snowball with her paws, running over to a boulder to protect herself from the snowballs the tom will be throwing towards her. Emberseeker made a few more snowballs until she had a whole stock of them in front of her. Taking in a deep breath, she peeked to see if Nightchaser had taken cover for his own sake. Grinning, Emberseeker crept around the area, to stalk the deputy and take him by surprise behind him.
The warrior approached the tom, lashing her tail against the ground, before launching onto him, causing them to both roll and collide, her pinning him down and mushing snow in his face, erupting in beautiful laughter. It was a laughter that didn't hint over seduction or flirtatious behaviour. She looked down at the tom, arching a brow with a grin as usual. Her bi-colour orbs met with his tired hues, and she felt herself actually melt inside. Woah, hold up! She needed to stop herself. But… she seemed a little distracted with staring at him, a hint of blush on her cheeks. Blinking slowly, she leaned downward a little, seeming to make an affectionate approach, until snow was flicked onto his face once more.
“Ha!” Emberseeker exclaimed, sticking her tongue out at him.

The sleek charcoal male slithered through the forest like a snake itself, golden maroon irises predator like and cautious, the murky pupil in the middle of his eyes narrowing into thin slits as another breeze fell upon him, feathery coat ruffling due to the heavy winds that stung his lungs and visionaries. Each and every step were quite light and tedious on the snow, entire bodice crouched low while his cranium swiveled occasionally to keep on the lookout for the beautiful molly who seemed to jump up right out of nowhere in particular. Up ahead, the male spotted a giant towering oak, and quietly crept towards it to take cover and hide from the female whom was currently out on the prowl for him, to throw a snowball right at his unexpectedly tired face. Just a couple more fox lengths and he could make a sprint for the oak, and when he crawled out into the middle of the open, he heard a little crunch and his shoulders and spine visibly shuttered, instinctively covering himself with his elongated tendril but to no use as he tried to sprint and duck for cover, only to have himself tumbling in the snow, long arms flailing until his back was pressed against the coldness and a rather attractive body looming over him, it made him quite uncomfortable and faintly you could see him gulp in embarrassment, tufted ears pressing flat against the snow. Upon hearing her laughter, it seemed genuine and rather more attractive to his ears than her misleading giggles and faint seduction methods, he admired the simple beauty of her whenever she was not being a massive flirt, if anything, when she wasn't flirting and being her natural self, he found himself being more attracted to her. Was that weird? He really couldn't tell except the twisting knots in his stomach as he desperately tried to sit up, but to no prevail. Upon hearing her laughter once again though, he found his cranium tilting slightly and that attractive lopsided grin of his as he looked up at her, golden maroon eyes flashing for a moment of an emotion unpredictable and watched as she continued to lean her face closer to his, stiffening in shock as snow was shoved into his tired features and he spluttered lightly, arms lifting to push the snow from his face as the male then chuckled.
"Here, have a little more snow, sweetheart"
With this, the male managed to make a snowball with his tendril and quickly lifted it to smash it against her backside, lightly of course because he would feel too mean if he had hurt her in the process.

Emberseeker let out a sudden shriek from a cold feeling going down the feline’s back. It seemed to occur to her that the tom beneath planted snow directly on the calico-tabby’s back. Shuddering from the temperature, the feline batted the tom’s face with a sheathed paw. A beam of laughter bubbled out of her hued lips once more, her body vibrating from the laughter. The molly had never had this much fun in a while, and laughter coming out of her – a real one on top of that, it was nearly a blessing. Quirking her paper thin triangular ears, glancing down at Nightchaser as a smile of amuse. Arching brow slowly whilst a devious smile tugged on her hued lips. In a swift motion, the feline sat her rump in the tom’s stomach, her tail snaked between his hind legs and resting on top of his own under tail. This the weather was getting chilly, she decided to lay on top of the tom, not putting a lot of pressure of his body since she didn’t want to crush him. Well, she kinda did, but she wanted to toy with him at least a little bit. And plus, her only friend was him, so getting rid of him now would be a bummer.
“I’m cold.” She meowed, a snicker departing from her maw.
Pressing her ear against the tom’s chest, she could feel the thumping vibration from his chest, and the sound of the beautiful thing of life in his chest. A thought of it stopped made her heart race, in what…? Fear? No. That’s just the cycle of life. Cats live and die. Her eyelids halfway closing, Emberseeker lift her cranium up, a huffing sound coming out of her.
“You know… There was a reason I was afraid of the lake when we first started communicating.” Emberseeker murmured, looking at the tom with her bi-colour orbs, locking with his dreamy optics.
The feline soon got off the tom, shaking the snow from off her back, before seating her rump against the cold surface beneath her. The she-cat curled her tail around her large paws to provide warmth for her. Was it worth even telling him? What if he would hate her for her being the blame on her sister’s death? Well, even if that happened, that would only explain the anticipation of not trusting a lot of cats. Sighing softly, the molly shook her cranium slowly.
“When I was a kit, I had a sister. Her name was Blossomkit. She was my best friend. One day, we decided to be little trouble makers, and go out of camp. Our parents were out to have a talk, and it was the perfect opportunity to sneak out. Blossomkit encouraged the plan, and so I led her to the lake. I dared her to walk on it, and when she did...” The feline paused, her voice cracking somewhat. It pained her to speak about it, and as she didn’t tell anyone about the incident, it was tough on her to talk about it. But she let out a soft breath, a sigh more likely. And she continued.
“She fell straight through. I went to go and try and get her out, but I saw the fear in her eyes. I saw her face before she drowned, and it scared me. My parents were distraught when they heard what happened. My mother didn’t talk to me. Didn’t give me the affection a kit should have. My father practically disowned me, as my mother did as well. I was left alone to fend for myself as a kit.”
The story was quite the tragic one, but it was one that she somewhat felt… relieved to speak about with the tom. She… trusted him, though she would never admit that. Her eyes swelled, water appearing in her eyes, and soon enough the warm tears rolled down her cheeks. It was a sensitive topic for her.

The sleek charcoal felt the heavy weight pressing down onto his stomach, it was a comforting weight, and while she was a little heavy, it felt nice to have that type of warm pressure against his chest, it made his golden maroon eyes lid heavily, back and spine pressing flat against the snowy ground, feeling the coldness seep into his feathery coat. Upon seeing her devious smile, the male took a nervous gulp and let his tufted ears press against the snow, however once the weight disappeared the male was a little thankful, but was quickly sitting up once again when he heard the change in her voice. Growing concerned, the male listened to the story and frowned, and upon seeing wet streaks trail down her cheeks, he instinctively moved forwards, wrapping himself around her and pushing closer to her tightly. Feathery tendril wrapping around her comfortingly, his scent wrapped around them both and he lightly pressed his nose against her cheek, and his voice settled upon her as he offered her comfort.
"Emb, it's alright, sweetheart. Everyone is terrified of the lake, it really wasn't your fault. Actually, uhm, my parents died when I was real young. We were sitting outside one night watching the snow fall and the winds were quite powerful, and my father told me to move away from them. I didn't understand what he meant but when I took a step back, a huge tree fell upon both, and I saw everything. I kept blaming myself, telling myself it was all my fault, but sometimes fate is destined to happen, and sometimes you can't stop it. Emb, I'm here for you, and you can trust me. As long as you've got me, I'm here to always help you through things. It is what friends do for each other-"
